The master plant dieta is one of the deepest forms of healing in the Amazonian tradition. It is a retreat into solitude, silence, and communion with powerful medicinal plants, guided by an experienced curandero. At La Musa Verde, we provide a safe and ethical space for participants to explore the wisdom of the plants and reconnect with their true nature.

Structure of the Dieta

A dieta can last from one to four weeks, with most beginning at seven days. Participants stay in a private jungle bungalow, designed to support rest, introspection, and connection with the plants. Meals are simple: vegetables, rice, potatoes, or quinoa—without salt, sugar, oil, or spices.

To create the right conditions for the plants to work, participants step away from technology, internet, and phone use as well as chemical products such as soap, deodorant and perfumes.

Opening the Dieta

The dieta begins with a purification ceremony, using tobacco or yawarpanga to cleanse the body and prepare for the work ahead. This is followed by an Ayahuasca ceremony, which formally opens the dieta. Afterward, participants return to their bungalows to begin their journey of healing, introspection, and learning from the master plants.

Daily Life During the Dieta

Life during the dieta is intentionally simple and quiet. Each day, the curandero visits to check on the participant’s process and provide the master plants prescribed for their specific case. Participants are encouraged to spend their time in reflection—journaling, meditating, walking in nature, playing music, or practicing yoga.

For the integrity of the work, interaction with other people expect the curandero in not allowed. Eye contact and touch are avoided until the dieta closes. This is to avoid mixing subtle energies and protecting your personal process with the plants.

Ayahuasca Ceremonies and Journeys

After the opening Ayahuasca ceremony, several Ayahuasca journeys in solitude are offered to deepen the participant’s connection with the plants and their own healing process. A journey in solitude with Ayahuasca is a gentle microdose given at night. Ayahuasca journeys are unguided, however the curandero is close by and always attentive. The dieta concludes with a final closing Ayahuasca ceremony.

The Role of Master Plants

Alongside Ayahuasca, participants drink teas prepared from other master plants, each chosen for its healing qualities. For example, Ajo Sacha is often used for cleansing heavy energies and strengthening spiritual protection. Chiric Sanango works deeply with the nervous system, helping to release trauma, fear, and energetic blockages. Bobinsana, a gentle and heart-opening plant, supports emotional healing, compassion, and connection with nature. These plants are powerful teachers in their own right, each offering unique medicine and guidance during the dieta.

Purpose and Depth of the Work

A dieta is not a casual retreat—it is serious spiritual work. It requires discipline, courage, and surrender. Participants are asked to face fears, old traumas, and limiting patterns with honesty and openness. This process can bring profound cleansing, emotional release, and spiritual insight. By stripping away distractions, the dieta creates the conditions for deep transformation, helping participants realign with their heart and true nature.

Preparation for a Dieta

To prepare, participants follow pre-dieta restrictions in the days and weeks before arrival. This includes abstaining from alcohol, drugs, red meat, pork, processed sugar, chemical medications and sexual activity. Time spent in meditation, intention-setting, and quiet reflection helps the body and mind enter the retreat in a state of openness and receptivity.

Post-Dieta Integration

The work of the dieta continues after the retreat. The post-dieta includes maintaining certain restrictions—avoiding alcohol, pork, spicy foods, sugar, chemical medications and sexual activity—for a period of time. Just as importantly, it is a space for integration: journaling, meditation, and time in nature can help ground the insights and healing received. The teachings of the plants continue to unfold for weeks or months after the dieta as long as the post-dieta is respected.

A Path of Transformation

The master plant dieta is a path of courage and surrender. For those who feel the calling, it can bring life-changing healing, powerful spiritual awakening, and a deep reconnection with the wisdom of nature. At La Musa Verde, we are honored to hold space for this sacred work.
